Just another cheezy Sunday...

I've got my butt firmly planted on the futon in the "Man Room." Hubby is watching football with the boys. I figured since he had a 65 inch Hi Def TV in the man room...and he aint here...then he wouldn't mind if I watched Lifetime Movies on something other than a 32".

Well, no matter how big the TV screen, Lifetime movies still suck. Predictable pieces of fluff that usually star Melissa Gilbert, Jacqueline Smith, Tracey Gold or Josie Bissett. But it's my guilty pleasure. And I'm going to act like I can't guess the plot of any of this crap.

Only thing is missing is the chocolate. Kids ate it all. Dang.

Chia Pets everywhere!

I thought I would post my story on this here blog about my traumatic experience with a Chia Pet (it's a pretty funny story, actually)...but decided to include it as a last minute entry in my new book "Big Dummies: Volume 1." Sorry. I'm trying to make some money to help find a cure for breast cancer and if there is a chance that a Chia Pet is the key, then I'm gonna use it. :D

Big Dummies: Volume 1 will be available in February. Keep watching this spot for more details!

Be careful what you wish for!

All I wanted was some peace and quiet. Just enough peace and quiet so I can actually get some things done that I've been putting off for so long. So here I am. Allie at work, Gabby at school, husband at work, Tucker in the backyard. Just me and Sharkbait the cat. And I have a PILE of big-azzed presents that need to be wrapped! YIKES! I need HELP! The only help I have is Sharkbait...and I tell you what! If she doesn't quit getting into all the ribbons and paper and boxes, I'm going to wrap her little butt up and give her to the boss for Christmas!

I'm getting NOTHING done.

Merry Christmas.

Crap. I'm going to have a Merry Christmas...dagnabbit!

I've been hibernating in my Pink Ribbon room for the past few days. Thinking, contemplating, writing. It's been a pretty crappy couple of days.

This past Monday, I had 4 doctor's appointments. Just needed to get them all overwith in one shot. Didn't think much of them until all of the calls that pretty much told me that I am falling apart little by little. An arm here, a leg here, yada, yada, yada.

I had two cardiologists appointments to find out why I have atrial fibrillation. Well, my heart looks fine...that's the good news. Still have to take medication for potassium deficiency...and now I've been diagnosed with hypothyroidism. Okay, so I'm on Synthroid for the rest of my life. I can deal with it. I have to deal with that. I should have known. It runs in my family.

Well, the breast clinic called too. The compressed area in the right breast that was biopsied a couple of years ago doesn't look so great right now. I need more films done this Friday and more tests to find out what's going on. Good grief. Can I catch a break here???

The good news is, I KNOW I'm going to come out on top. I trust My God. I'm just going to do what I have to do and not worry. As my sister Ginni used to say, "Stay in today."

So, I'm going to have myself a Merry Christmas...and after this is all over, I'm going to have myself a great big beer...on somebody else's tab! Cheers!

Holy carp, I'm never gonna get any sleep.

Not that it's a bad thing, ya know. My husband gave me one of my Christmas presents early. A nice 32 inch flat screen TV for my pink room. He and our radio engineer friend John installed it on the wall on Sunday, and I've been in here vegging ever since. I even added a little electric "wood stove" with alleged realistic flame in my room to make it more cozy. And it IS. A virtual mini-vacation in here! So here I am, at midnight, hanging in the pink room...which is now being dubbed as the "woman cave" by my co-worker Mark McKay. I may never see my family again!

All I need is a garden tub. There's still time to talk to Santa.

Gentlemen, please don't get mad at me for what I'm about to say. I love all you guys and I'm sure in your own way, you understand. Shopping for Christmas presents for you guys sucks! Good grief.

I asked my hubby what he wants for Christmas and he gave me that same old crispy answer he gives me every year. "I really don't want anything dear." Please. What the heck kind of answer is that for a woman with a mall to conquer and a credit card to max??? Is he really trying to kill me? It's the ONLY time of year I can get away with spending money without getting yelled at til at least February. Please guys. Don't deny us this fun. We're going to find out what you want for Christmas anyway. Don't waste our time. Tell us. If you tell us now, we may be able to find it at a HUGE discount on Black Friday! And we'll leave you alone and go up in the attic and dig out that sleeping bag we're gonna use to sleep out in front of that store for 36 hours. You save money, we're not in your hair on Black Friday, it's a win-win situation. And we can all have a Merry Christmas.

Your Friend,
Karen

I practice what I preach...

Well...most of the time anyway. LOL. When it comes to this, I really do.

I do...from the bottom of my heart...want cancer to go bye-bye and leave us all alone. I am an advocate to help fight breast cancer and childhood cancer. There are others who lend their voices to help fight other cancers. The reason we choose to devote our efforts towards one cancer or another is not because we don't want other cancers to be cured first, it's because we have experience in that particular area. It's what we know. Our lives were affected and we know more of those big words and more about side effects of certain chemos than we wanted to know. So we don't throw away that experience. We use it for good. We need all of us in all areas to keep speaking. We're helping others in need. The newly diagnosed, the caregiver, the new volunteer, the medical community, etc. ALL of us need to speak out and raise the awareness that cancer can strike anyone, anywhere, anytime. It's time for us to fight back.

So here are my words to you today. I am having my yearly mammogram at 3:15 today. If you are due or overdue for one, call and make your appt. today! Okay? Okay.

Until next time,
Karen
